Tutoring Experience
In the past, I have tutored 11+ Mathematics and English with a >80% success rate of gaining pupils entry into top UK schools.
I currently tutor Maths to pupils of a variety of levels, ranging from Pre-GCSE to A-Level Further Maths, with an average grade increase of 0.5 to 1.
I also tutor Economics and have seen strong improvement in my students’ understanding of the subject. In addition to this, I have mentored pupils through the Oxbridge admissions process, coaching them for personal statement writing, admissions tests and interviews.
Tutoring Approach
For Mathematics, I believe in a practice-led approach to teaching.
Understandably, pupils find it difficult to understand methods at first glance. It is only when I work through examples with them that they learn how to apply the methods they are taught. Through frequent worked examples and practice, concepts can be stored in students’ long-term memories.
For Economics, pupils need to have a genuine understanding of theories, hence I often show them the basis of different concepts even if it is not an explicit requirement of the exam board. This allows for a deeper understanding of the subject which always comes through in their exam responses.
