Tutoring Experience

I have excelled at tutoring A-level and IB Maths and Economics online during the pandemic and have also tutored Maths on a voluntary basis in Sixth Form, helping in a project aimed at disadvantaged students.

Even before that, I tutored Maths GCSE as part of my role as an ambassador for my Secondary School, so I have extensive experience of explaining difficult concepts in accessible ways.

I have since decided to specialize in tutoring Maths and Economics at A-level and IB, so you can rest assured that my lessons will be of high quality given my focus on these qualifications.

Economics Tuition Approach

During the first lesson I will ascertain what areas the student needs to focus on and begin to focus on the areas most in need of attention. In all subsequent lessons, the structure will be: I will summarise the content covered from the previous lesson and check understanding; I will explain a new concept with the aid of real-world examples and then I will go through exam questions.

Maths Tuition Approach

Before the first session I like to give the student a short exam covering the parts of the relevant specification that they have covered thus far to determine what topics should be focussed on in the subsequent sessions (unless the student already has specific topics they want to go through). During each session I will first review the content covered in the previous session and check understanding, then explain a new concept, go through an example and we will then work on exam questions together.
