Tutoring Experience
I have around 4 years of tutoring experience, both online and in-person. While I've conducted most of my tutoring sessions privately, I also collaborate with several tutoring organisations to connect with students and parents.
The majority of my teaching involves one-to-one sessions, but I've also facilitated some small-group sessions. Early in my tutoring career, I volunteered with an organisation that pairs university students with sixth-form applicants from disadvantaged backgrounds. Since then, I've taught students of various ages and abilities, ranging from KS1 pupils with learning difficulties (including ADHD and dyslexia) to year 5/6 pupils preparing for SATs and 11+ entrance exams, to GCSE and A Level students, as well as adult learners retaking exams or applying to universities later in life. My most extensive tutoring experience lies in GCSE maths and science. I've worked with roughly 30 individual students, mostly on a long-term basis (6 months+), assisting with GCSE content revision and exam preparation. Additionally, I specialise in university admissions preparation, particularly for prestigious institutions.
Over the past few years, I've mentored a significant number of students (25+). These sessions, usually shorter-term (ranging from a few weeks to a few months), primarily focus on personal statements, admissions assessments, and mock interviews. Having studied natural sciences, I am well-equipped to assist with NSAA prep, and I also guide students applying for STEM courses at top-tier universities.
Tutoring Approach
I collaborate with my students to enhance their skills, offering a stand-out tutoring service rooted in my robust academic background.
My aim is to bolster my students' confidence through teaching that fosters a positive, can-do attitude towards schoolwork. Recognizing that learning is highly individual, I adapt my teaching approach based on the age and unique learning style of each student. I strive to swiftly pinpoint their strengths and weaknesses within a subject. For GCSE and A Level students, I provide exam preparation through revision guidance and past paper questions, reinforcing content knowledge and bolstering confidence.
When it comes to university applications, I mentor and guide students throughout the application process – from crafting personal statements to preparing for admissions assessments and interviews. I find tutoring immensely rewarding and take great joy in watching my students thrive and progress.
