Tutoring Experience
I’ve worked as a tutor previously for GCSE students, and have helped students through their 11+ exams successfully and to achieve A/A* grades at GCSE. I’ve also taught English as a foreign language to students between the ages of 8 and 18 in Tajikistan.
Tutoring Approach
For a subject like history, I like to focus on analysis of primary sources and essay-writing. At GCSE level, I find it best to break down the formula for a history (or English) essay. At A Level, the formula is slightly less rigid, and the focus on argument and source is greater. I am also more than happy to help with any admissions tests/exams for history, where typically the focus is entirely on the source.
For GCSE sciences and mathematics, I think the best results come from practicing and going through past exam papers, and ensuring that the students understand the method behind every question.
