Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring both informally and formally for the past 7 years. At my secondary school I taught spelling, reading and grammar skills on a weekly basis at a local primary school. Whilst at University, I tutored IB English, helping students develop their literary skills and aiding particularly with the English IA. I have held informal mock interviews with prospective Cambridge English students and have read over and edited numerous personal statements.

Tutoring Approach

I adopt a friendly but professional attitude in my tutoring roles. I firstly work with the student to establish what level/grade they are currently working at and then where they would like to see themselves by the end of our sessions.

I subsequently outline a general plan for our sessions and throughout I keep a record of the material that we've covered and anything that unexpectedly comes up and needs reviewing. Ultimately, then, I structure my sessions with the Cambridge supervision model in mind, keeping the atmosphere conversational and ensuring a two-way dialogue.

I have experienced a wealth of fantastic teaching from professors at various institutions including the University of Cambridge and Harvard University, and have adopted their skills and approach in my own teaching style.
