When I first meet my students, I make a short introduction of myself and then I ask from the student to do the same.

I ask about their current grades, future plans but also things like hobbies. I believe this makes for relaxing atmosphere and some small bonding between us.

No matter what subject I teach I always explain my student that he or she can interrupt me at any time to ask questions and when they answer my questions, they should not fear of making a mistake as making mistakes and correcting them is a part of the learning process.

I always ask for a textbook that student uses, as well any learning materials he or she might provide, so I can focus on the exact curriculum practiced in their school.


I try to keep my students engaged during my lessons, by asking them questions, giving them practical examples with frequent use of simulations (Phet) or selected Youtube videos. We always have a virtual whiteboard that we use, where everything written stays recorded but I also insist that my students write everything down in their notebooks. As a source of exercise materials, I use various internet platforms that offer collections of past paper questions for different curricula.
If a student has a particular goal in mind, passing a certain test for example, this requires more rigorous planning that we do together in order to make sure goals will be fulfilled.

Every student is different so I try to adapt to individual needs and learning styles of each of my students. I try to offer them advice and guidance on how to study and practice different subjects.

I usually use UbD system while teaching. It is based on teaching by practicing and converting the knowledge into a transfer form which is linked through real life. Especially IB students as face problems while finding out a suitable ‘’Research Question’’ for their Internal Assessments. Maths Tuition Approach - Students I have taught before have commented on the active nature of my sessions and enjoy the progression they make.

I am a great believer that it is more important to think about a problem on a deep level (with gradual prompts and guidance) than it is to get an answer. In the opening sessions, we will address some general topics to ensure the student can get the most out of the following sessions. First, we will ensure that the student is familiar with format/specification, set goals together, determine the student’s current strengths/weaknesses (by taking an assessment). We will then look at some specific study techniques, how to get started on problems if one is stuck, and the different types of questions. I will also share some useful resources and links.

Once I have marked and given feedback on the initial assessment, we will design a course of study that suits the student’s needs. This will consist of a relevant mixture of conceptual teaching; feedback on homework solutions; practice questions ranging from basic to very challenging and general exam technique.

Students are free to shape their own sessions by suggesting topics/questions to focus on. We will set interim assessment points to continually monitor the student’s strengths, weaknesses and progress towards reaching their goals. We will also continue to reflect on what we have covered in the sessions and draw links between topics so students can see the wider picture.

I am very flexible in the format used during our lessons. Whether it is zoom, skype, microsoft teams or google meet, whichever suits you. Lessons normally last an hour, but I can adjust this according to your needs.

The resources and revision packs provided will be sent before the lesson begins to ensure we maximize our time. I allow plenty of opportunities for students to engage in the learning as active participants to both ensure a memorable learning experience and to formatively check understanding.

I have worked with the IB as an examiner on Paper 3, IA and the Extended Essays. This has given me a unique insight into the keys to success for the IB Geography course. Also, I have worked as an Assistant Headteacher in London and been a Head of Humanities and Head of Geography, in both London and international schools.

As well as being an experienced teacher, I have tutored students online and face to face in a range of locations and time zones from China, Athens, Switzerland and the USA.

I graduated in 2001 with a BA in English with Sociology, obtaining my teaching qualification soon after.

I've taught in many different schools and organizations, learning how to help students with all kinds of needs. At St Catherine’s British School in Athens, Greece, I've been teaching English and other subjects since 2015. I also taught English to adults at Adult Education of Bexley, helping them get ready for Cambridge English exams, from 2012 to 2015.


At Bexley Grammar School, I taught English to students of all ages, even those in the IB program, from 2013 to 2014. Before that, I taught English at Campion School Athens and helped students get ready for exams like the IGCSE. I've also worked at Plumstead Manor Girls School, St. Ursula’s Convent School, and Hurstmere School, teaching English to students of different ages and abilities.


Besides schools, I've also taught English in different ways, like using drama and theater at Rose Bruford College and helping adults with literacy and English at Adult Education College for Bexley. I've even supported children with special needs at Childeric Primary School. I've also taught English to students from all over the world at Concorde International Summer School. At Agnes Katsianos School, I helped students prepare for exams like the Cambridge First Certificate. Throughout my career, I've always been passionate about helping students succeed in their studies and feel confident in their abilities.
