Maths Tuition Approach - Students I have taught before have commented on the active nature of my sessions and enjoy the progression they make.

I am a great believer that it is more important to think about a problem on a deep level (with gradual prompts and guidance) than it is to get an answer. In the opening sessions, we will address some general topics to ensure the student can get the most out of the following sessions. First, we will ensure that the student is familiar with format/specification, set goals together, determine the student’s current strengths/weaknesses (by taking an assessment). We will then look at some specific study techniques, how to get started on problems if one is stuck, and the different types of questions. I will also share some useful resources and links.

Once I have marked and given feedback on the initial assessment, we will design a course of study that suits the student’s needs. This will consist of a relevant mixture of conceptual teaching; feedback on homework solutions; practice questions ranging from basic to very challenging and general exam technique.

Students are free to shape their own sessions by suggesting topics/questions to focus on. We will set interim assessment points to continually monitor the student’s strengths, weaknesses and progress towards reaching their goals. We will also continue to reflect on what we have covered in the sessions and draw links between topics so students can see the wider picture.

STEP Tuition Approach - My approach to tutoring STEP does not differ massively from what I have described above. Depending on where the student is in their journey, however, initial sessions may focus on demystifying STEP and developing the student’s confidence in tapping into the mathematical intuition and creativity required for success in these examinations.

As a former classroom teacher, I can also offer unique insight into exam structure and the application of assessment criteria. All of my students gain a better understanding of who they are as learners and how to maximise retainment and study efficiency in the future.

Above all, I believe in motivating students through positivity and humour, because it's hard to learn if you're miserable! I have a proven track record of building strong student relationships that result in measurable improvements in academic achievement and attitude, including successful remediation for exam resits.

I have taught secondary Mathematics and Biology at international schools in Europe and South America in addition to tutoring at the secondary and postsecondary level for over 15 years, including IB Math and Biology SL/HL; AP Calculus AB/BC, Statistics, Biology, and Environmental Science; A Level Maths and Biology; and the SAT and ACT exams.

For the IB, I have successfully guided students through both the IA and EE processes from topic selection to final submission. My students have gone on to achieve their target grades and gain admission to their target universities in Europe and the US.

Additionally, I have written course content for an online international school based in Europe in AS and A Level Biology, Environmental Management, Chemistry, and Physics, including textbook content, assessments and study guides. I have also published IB study guides for tutoring companies based in the US.

Prior to teaching, I worked as a medical scribe and clinical assistant in high-risk Obstetrics & Gynecology clinics in the US, with six years of experience in direct patient care.

I am currently in my third year as a Jurisprudence student at the University of Oxford, based at Magdalen College, where I am pursuing a specialization in Law with French Law. My academic journey has allowed me to interact and work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. I have achieved a triple first in my Law Moderations and have studied Economics, English, and History at the Higher Level (HL) in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.
