When I first meet my students, I make a short introduction of myself and then I ask from the student to do the same.

I ask about their current grades, future plans but also things like hobbies. I believe this makes for relaxing atmosphere and some small bonding between us.

No matter what subject I teach I always explain my student that he or she can interrupt me at any time to ask questions and when they answer my questions, they should not fear of making a mistake as making mistakes and correcting them is a part of the learning process.

I always ask for a textbook that student uses, as well any learning materials he or she might provide, so I can focus on the exact curriculum practiced in their school.


I try to keep my students engaged during my lessons, by asking them questions, giving them practical examples with frequent use of simulations (Phet) or selected Youtube videos. We always have a virtual whiteboard that we use, where everything written stays recorded but I also insist that my students write everything down in their notebooks. As a source of exercise materials, I use various internet platforms that offer collections of past paper questions for different curricula.
If a student has a particular goal in mind, passing a certain test for example, this requires more rigorous planning that we do together in order to make sure goals will be fulfilled.

Every student is different so I try to adapt to individual needs and learning styles of each of my students. I try to offer them advice and guidance on how to study and practice different subjects.

I usually use UbD system while teaching. It is based on teaching by practicing and converting the knowledge into a transfer form which is linked through real life. Especially IB students as face problems while finding out a suitable ‘’Research Question’’ for their Internal Assessments. Upon our first lesson I discuss what the tutee’s targets for achievement are, and I identify which specific areas to Geography the tutee feels most confident in and where they most need assistance.

I have taught secondary Mathematics and Biology at international schools in Europe and South America in addition to tutoring at the secondary and postsecondary level for over 15 years, including IB Math and Biology SL/HL; AP Calculus AB/BC, Statistics, Biology, and Environmental Science; A Level Maths and Biology; and the SAT and ACT exams.

For the IB, I have successfully guided students through both the IA and EE processes from topic selection to final submission. My students have gone on to achieve their target grades and gain admission to their target universities in Europe and the US.

Additionally, I have written course content for an online international school based in Europe in AS and A Level Biology, Environmental Management, Chemistry, and Physics, including textbook content, assessments and study guides. Prior to teaching, I worked as a medical scribe and clinical assistant in high-risk Obstetrics & Gynecology clinics in the US, with six years of experience in direct patient care.

I am very flexible in the format used during our lessons. Whether it is zoom, skype, microsoft teams or google meet, whichever suits you. Lessons normally last an hour, but I can adjust this according to your needs.
