I tutor remotely using an iPad and zoom so that I can write and draw on my iPad in live time as the student watches.

This also allows the students to draw on the screen so that I can see their working. I don’t just teach the students how to answer the questions in their exams, but also, I teach them why each method works and make sure that they can apply the theory in different scenarios.

As a result, my students not only increase in ability of the subject, but also in enjoyment. As I study mechanical engineering, I can apply real world scenarios to the theory I teach within Maths and Physics, demonstrating the value of learning such theory.

I am more of a visual learner, so I use visual techniques like drawings and props to demonstrate the theory, making the lessons engaging and to give more of an intuitive feel for complex concepts.

For example, when teaching about resistance in electricity (how as the length of a wire increases, the resistance increases, but as the cross-sectional area of a wire increases, the resistance decreases), I use real wires of different lengths and cross-sectional areas to first check that they understand the theory, asking which wire they think would charge my laptop faster, but also to demonstrate the application of such theory.

When teach IB level subjects, I use PowerPoints to go through the theory. If my student comes to me not understanding a specific area of the syllabus, I will take them through the presentations, breaking down the theory by drawing and showing videos. Then, once they understand the theory better, I use basic question worksheets to ensure the theory is understood. Then, we would move to topic-wise past paper questions to demonstrate how they need to be able to apply the theory in the exam.

When their exams are approaching, we would move to going over past papers.


I tutor a range of ages from year 6 to year 13 which demonstrates my ability to break complex concepts down to the very basics and build them back up to A-level/IB.

Having grown up in Hong Kong, I studied the IB programme, and am able to communicate clearly to students from different cultures and backgrounds.

Each week we would either run a workshop on renewable energy, letting the children build wind turbines and explore different energy sources, or an after-school GCSE tutoring session where students could come and work through questions, they found difficult.

SAT/ACT: For standardized testing, I work with students to go through as many practice tests as possible to get them familiar with what the tests expect of them. Then I work through commonly missed questions and tips/tricks. I work hard to help my students get as familiar with the types of questions asked of them and how to work through them in a timely manner.

Math, Science, Economics: I start by reviewing concepts and going over problems related to each topic. Then I have the students try a few problems on their own and explain the solution to me. I believe strongly that for tuition sessions to be effective, a good working relationship needs to be established. In our first session we will get to know each other, work out your strengths and weaknesses and discuss what you would like our sessions to focus on. I will then use the skills and knowledge I have developed through my 3 years of classroom teaching and 6 years of private tutoring experience to help you make progress.

I am flexible in my approach (no two students are the same, so no two tuition sessions should be the same!), but I always come back to techniques that are proven to be effective, such as spaced repetition, active recall and detailed work on exam questions. We will do lots of worked examples to help apply your knowledge and get you exam ready!

GCSE/A-level – I ask student what topic/area they would like me to help them with at the start of the lesson, then give them a brief overview of the topic by verbally explaining it to them, using a revision guide as a reference. After that, I would spend the remainder of the lesson going through practice questions on the said topic using worksheets.

BMAT – ask the student in advance of the lesson what topic/question type they would like to cover, then prepare a short presentation on how to tackle said question type. Then I would proceed by asking the student to tackle question sets using the techniques I just showed them with the given question type (either through past papers, or through question banks).

Medicine interviews – I have a diary of the questions that I was asked at both of the Oxford colleges I was interviewed at for medicine. Using these questions, I can draw upon this experience and go through strategies of how to tackle these question types, and provide more example questions for students to be able to answer to prepare them for Oxbridge interviews. As far as MMI preparation is concerned, I also still have many preparation documents I made when preparing for my medical interviews, and I can go through each of these to explain the important messages and strategies (such as the STAR approach) to employ when tackling a range of MMI stations. My teaching style is problem-focused: first I explain the key concepts, then demonstrate with examples. We will work through problems, before I ask you to complete one independently and provide feedback.



As a student, I delve into the fundamentals of Quantum Physics, trying to understand the strange phenomena it gives us, and how we can exploit them to our advantage. As a teacher, I foster the skills and intuition which make a great scientist, so that my students develop confidence in their subject, and learn to appreciate the beauty of Natural Sciences.

At some point in my academic career, I realized one cannot be a great physicist without also being a great teacher. Richard Feynman once said: “If you can’t explain something in simple terms, you don’t understand it” — and he was absolutely right!

I like to stay immersed in physics: to me, problem-solving is both a craft, and a pastime. This is why I find teaching so important, and why I’ll go to great lengths to pass on my enthusiasm. Whether you’re curious about a new concept, or stuck on a problem, I am available outside of lessons, just a text away!

At university, I used my exam preparation skills to mentor Oxford applicants through an organisation called Project Access, as well as offered PAT and Interview preparation for students at my sixth form. Two of my former mentees are now studying Physics and PhysPhil respectively. Along with the Polish Society, I co-organised and gave talks at the myOXperience programme (https://www.myoxperience.pl/en/) for polish high schoolers, many of whom are now studying at top UK universities.

Currently, I supervise seven 1st year Natural Science undergraduates at Emmanuel College, Cambridge every week, teaching them the Physics Syllabus. I also tutor A-Level Maths & Physics regularly, having recently helped a student improve her grade during her mock exams.
